What We Do

Promote Effective Practices

We believe that ending school push-out depends on school staff being equipped with the tools and strategies to effectively create positive school climates and avoid exclusionary discipline.

This looks like:

Advocate for Fair Policies

We seek to change the laws and policies that perpetuate discipline disparities in schools and enable schools to rely on exclusionary discipline instead of better alternatives.

This looks like:

Working with families so they can share their stories of the impact of effective (and ineffective) practices in order to generate more urgency around effective practices.

Supporting practitioners of Restorative Practices by creating spaces for collaboration and mutual support and strategizing.

Advocating for legislation at a state level which supports the Coalition’s goals.

Mobilizing families, students, and teachers to speak in support of policy and legislative changes that would enable schools to use alternatives to suspension and expulsion.
