Solutions Not Suspensions is a coalition of students, families, community members, and organizations committed to changing policies, practices, and mindsets in order to end exclusionary discipline practices that disproportionately impact students of color and instead foster positive school climates for all students.

What We Know

Exclusionary discipline—including suspensions, removals, and expulsions—doesn’t work. And they disproportionately are used against students of color and students with disabilities. But there are other solutions to foster positive school climates.

What We Do

We work to change state and district policies to end exclusionary discipline practices. We promote more effective practices. We are a community of solidarity and support for families, students, practitioners, and advocates who care about this work.
